TLNA email listserv is a great way to find out what is going on in the neighborhood.

Membership is easy and affordable. Everyone is welcome to all our meetings, however, only active members can vote. (For meeting location and time see below.) To become an active member the annual dues are $5 per individual and $10 per household. Bring your payment to a meeting or send a check along with your name, address, phone number and email to our treasurer, Susan Sewell, 2904 Legion St., Durham, NC 27707.

TLNA Monthly Meeting

Our meetings are the first Thursday of every month at 7pm in the basement of the Lakewood Methodist Church at the corner of Chapel Hill Road and Huron Street. All are welcome. Paying members get voting privileges. Meeting Minutes Archive

Get Involved

Here are a few ways you can get involved in the neighborhood.

  • Help deliver The Porch Light Newsletter

The Porch Light is a quarterly publication of the Tuscaloosa-Lakewood Neighborhood Association. The publication is delivered to over 500 homes in the TLNA by neighborhood volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer to help deliver The Porch Light please email tlnadurham@gmail.com.   • Join the InterNeighborhood Council listserv

  • Become a part of Southwest Central Durham Quality of Life Project

According to itswebsite, "the Quality of Life Project brokers relationships and resources for the six neighborhoods of Southwest Central Durham. QOL promotes, advocates for, and provides training and technical support to residents, neighborhood organizations, and businesses to create strong, stable, and safe neighborhoods. http://www.durhamqualityoflife.org

  • Help beautify our neighborhood:

-Adopt a Stream

-Help plant trees around the neighborhood

-Help out our neighborhood clean-up day

-Help conserve two cemeteries in our neighborhood

  •  Attend Partners Against Crime District 3 Meetings

Meet with police officers, Durham city and county government officials and neighbors from District 3 to discuss community crime and neighborhood quality of life issues. PAC-3 is a community based volunteer organization.  

PAC-3 meet monthly on the second Saturday at 10 a.m.

Community & Family Life Rec. Center at Lyon Park. 1313 Halley Street. For more information, contact the
