Tuscaloosa-Lakewood Neighborhood Association (TLNA) was established in 1985 to foster pride in the neighborhood and provide a forum for neighborhood activity. The Association serves as a liaison for neighborhood interests with city government and nearby schools and businesses, and we work with other neighborhood associations on common concerns. We facilitate neighbors' involvement in all issues that affect TLNA, including quality of life, property values, land use, safety, zoning changes, traffic patterns, and streets modifications. We also sponsor neighborhood activities, such as our annual picnic, to help neighbors create friendships and a sense of belonging. Tuscaloosa-Lakewood Neighborhood Association serves approximately 550 households in the area bound by Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard, Chapel Hill Road, James Street, and a small portion of Lakewood Avenue. We are a diverse community of mixed incomes, lifestyles, and backgrounds. Some of our residents have lived here for decades. We have a strong neighborhood identity and commitment among residents, who, since 1985, have ensured the preservation and vitality of TLNA.
